Running Inspiration

This is on my mind, so I thought I would write about it after watching a good portion of the movie Running for time. The movie is based on some teens in a corection facility and one of the officers puts together a track team as a last chance to get there lives on track.

The point to my madness is the reason you find more people wanting to play basketball then run. Running is more of an individual sport then team even though there are team events. Fact of the matter is each individual has to perform. You can’t rely on your star player to do all the work and you win the game. If one person doesn’t perform the team looses. Running really makes you reach into your soul and requires dedication, committment and you won’t get any results if you don’t give 100 % every day. I know for a fact most long distance runners don’t get the off season. They run cross country, track and between seasons there doing base build ups.

I feel that running really teachs you life skills. Not everyone is going to end up being a runner. It teaches you do give 100 % at what ever you do. Never give up, and to know that you can do what ever you put your mind to. Don’t make excuses for your mistakes look at the history and evaluate the outcome. My mom once gave me a quote and I still agree with it today.

” Don’t expect different results wit the same equation”

So in conclusion I will close with Steve Prefontaine’s famous quote: Do do less than your best is to sacrifice a precious gift.
